Jenny has been working in forensic services for 20 years, gaining her status as a Chartered and Registered Forensic Psychologist in 2008. She currently works as an independent practitioner and is Director of JMI Psychological Services LTD. This was established in April 2016.
Jenny completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Lincolnshire and Humberside in 1998. She then went on to complete a post graduate degree (MSc Forensic Psychology) at the University of Central Lancashire in 2005.
Previously, Jenny was employed by HM Prison Service from 2000 to 2010, during which time she worked with young offenders and adult male and female prisoners with determinate and indeterminate sentences. Whilst working for HM Prison Service she was responsible for the treatment management/supervision and facilitation of group work programmes. In addition, her role included the delivery of individualised offence focused work. She has completed a number of risk assessments report (including parole reports and lifer reports) and has communicated these findings to the relevant professionals.
Between 2010 and 2016 Jenny was based in a low and medium secure psychiatric hospital, where she worked on both an individual and group-basis, with male and female patients presenting with a range of complex needs, including mental illness, personality disorder, substance misuse problems, cognitive deficits and learning difficulties. Her work included assessment and treatment, using both structured interventions and individualised work.
Jenny’s work as an independent practitioner currently involves completing expert witness reports for HM Prison Service, in addition to family court reports. She facilitates psychologically informed training courses to mental health professionals across the UK and is an associate lecturer for Manchester Metropolitan University.
Jenny has a particular interest in Mindfulness and staff care and well-being and has developed a range of bespoke training packages, courses and workshops within this field. She has delivered these within the community, in schools and for large organisations within the North West area.
